How was the IIT Delhi interview experience?

Do you ever feel the anxiety of an interview ? If yes, then this is most important post for you.I think everyone does it whenever they are preparing for the job or any research position. Now, the issue is not whether you felt anxiety or not . But, how to dealt with it as a major or minor crisis. I think that this is something every person should know about it.

Preparation phase

The important phase is preparation phase which decides how you are going to perform in Interview. The preparation phase includes not only the look but also the knowledge, patience and dealing with different questions as well as expressions.

People should ask several questions before entering into this phase. There are some listed examples

  • What are the objectives that i should achieve in this interview?
  • What are the information required in the achieving good results in interview?
  • What are the resource persons as well as resources that i can use for guidance as well as preparation?
  • What are dress code, appearance or non verbal as well verbal expertise are required?

These are the questions person should ask before planning for the interview through resources or learning materials.I think , people should look for senior persons, read blogs, talk to professors, or look for video or resources for guidance. The best way you can learn this through senior persons. Most of the person will tell you what you should not do based on their learning experiences. You should get enough guidance and remaining from online resources to boost knowledge .If you talk to single person , you may get limited information. So, try to interact with multiple resource persons. They will tell what to read , where to find resources, how do you look before the panel, how to sit, talk etc. They also help with what type of questions they will ask in the interview, what are the things you should never mention.

Talk to as much person as possible. Limited guidance may be biased .

Physical / non verbal gestures presentation

The non verbal signature constitutes more than 70% of whole interview impression. The panel never look for the physical appearance or dress every time. But, you should look at-least fine. The beard, moustache hair , shoes , clothes. These things should be fine . It doesn’t not represent that you are serious about it in terms of personal hygiene or personal identity. But, it will also prepare you for interview .

Ask yourself some questions

  • Do the dress code is appropriate at the specific place or for specific job profile ?
  • Are the physical appearance are good like hair combed , clothes ironed, beard or moustaches shoved or appropriate, shoes polished , clothes not dirty?
  • Do i look anxious , sleepy, nervous or less active ?
  • Do the posture or spine placement is fine or need changes ?
  • Do i need to change the eye pattern or look straight to the panel?

Interaction period

The interview never built to estimate only preparation but it also estimates or look the specific job characteristics required in the applicant . For example – If the panel ask that the data collection will be happening in very risky area ? Instead of saying , i will never go to places where the risk range are higher. The probability of risk , whether they have some protocols, nature of work, organisation role or type . These things are directly impacting the risk pattern so based on these queries, you can reframe the answers in positive and optimistic manner. These question can also be used in evaluation of specific temperament, curiosity, enthusiasm.

There are some questions which they asked in my interview whether I applied for job or research experience.

  • Tell me about yourself?
  • What are the research interest that you are interested?
  • Why you have chose this specific research area?
  • Can you tell me any methodology that you are going to employ in your study?
  • What were your previous roles or research experiences in the project ?
  • Why you left previous job or opted for this ?
  • Are you aware of any programming language ?

The questions were framed based on answers you provide to them. Their intention will never be to evaluate you knowledge but to check whether you are curious, patience , honest , can work in different environment or not.

What’s next

The last thing a person can do is to wait for the results . But, we can’t stick to some positions only as we don’t know whether we selected or not. Applying for as much places as possible and work on these section are not good for job perspective but also refinement to your own personality and skills.
